SUMMARY:Photography Camp 2023 Application Deadline
DESCRIPTION:During Coaching Detroit Forward’s Beginner Photography Camp\, students will learn about photography basics and techniques from head coach Sacred Overstreet-Amos. They will learn the history of photography\, photography equipment\, camera settings\, lighting\, career opportunities and more. There will also be guest photographers who have shot photos for local and national publications\, companies and events. Each student will be given a laptop and a camera to use during the camp.to practice capturing photos of architecture\, nature\, people and city life. Their photos will be published online and in Perspectives Magazine. They will also be exhibited at the Empowerment Plan in fall 2023. \nThe free camp includes daily lunch and parking. SUMMARY:Journalism Camp 2023 Application Deadline
DESCRIPTION:The Detroit Writing Room Journalism Camp in partnership with Coaching Detroit Forward is a two-week experience led by Detroit Writing Room and New York Writing Room coaches. Students will work directly with veteran journalists who’ve reported for The New York Times\, U.S. News & World Report\, Detroit Free Press\, Detroit News\, Hour Magazine and more! Students will learn about covering news\, sports\, health\, business\, social justice and stories in their communities. They’ll also write their own article that will be published online and in the fourth edition of the award-winning Perspectives Magazine. \nThe camp includes daily lunch and parking. The camp is free for Detroit high school students thanks to scholarships offered through the nonprofit Coaching Detroit Forward.
