Date with a Plate is a casual event celebrating ABCD’s 20+ years of local impact\, while engaging with the next generation of our community.  \nThis is a FREE event\, open to the public. The evening will offer local food\, raffle items and fun – all money raised will directly support ABCD’s mission in Milwaukee and beyond.  \nDate with a Plate began 22 years ago as a way to celebrate ABCD Mentors\, Participants\, and the amazing support (+ food talents) of our local community. We’re bringing back the original style of Date with a Plate with food options from various vendors across the city\, providing event participants with a fun evening of connecting with the community – with a full plate.

SUMMARY:20th Annual Goombay Bash Presented by Becknell Industrial
DESCRIPTION:The H Foundation and the Goombay Bash were created over a cocktail called the Goombay Smash. It started with a few friends with entrepreneurial spirit who decided to make a difference in the fight against cancer. In 2001\, we threw our first Goombay Bash under the disguise of a casual Caribbean-style festival. Since then\, the Goombay Bash has grown to become the largest basic science cancer research fundraising event in Chicago! \nIt’s a party with meaning\, but it is also the party of the summer. We host 1\,000+ guests at Chicago’s Navy Pier at a tropical party where everyone wears Hawaiian shirts and leis while raising money for cancer research. Since 2001\, The H Foundation has raised over $10 million donating nearly every dollar raised to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. These funds are used as seed money for basic science cancer research projects to help them compete for additional government or private funding. \nAs a result\, our donations have been leveraged into over $153 million of research dollars towards finding a cure.
