Journalism Camp 2023 Application Deadline

The Detroit Writing Room Journalism Camp in partnership with Coaching Detroit Forward is a two-week experience led by Detroit Writing Room and New York Writing Room coaches. Students will work directly with veteran journalists who’ve reported for The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Hour Magazine and more! Students will learn about covering news, sports, health, business, social justice and stories in their communities. They’ll also write their own article that will be published online and in the fourth edition of the award-winning Perspectives Magazine.
The camp includes daily lunch and parking. The camp is free for Detroit high school students thanks to scholarships offered through the nonprofit Coaching Detroit Forward. There is a registration fee for non-Detroit students.

The camp will be held weekdays July 10 – July 21, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST at Wayne State University.
